Hello and welcome everyone! A viewpoint...every change of season presents a challenge to most
of us. Four times a year (seasonal change) we tend to get somewhat depressed. I think it is "leaving" the "known" and going into the "unknown." The new season being the unknown.
Any change in our lives presents fear and we fear the unkown...even though we have experienced this many times before. When we create the change we more readily accept it.
In our lives, CHANGE is not waiting for us to catch up to it...it is coming at us in "rapid fire"
fashion. Think for a moment regarding this premise...there are 3 persons in each of us. The
person we were yesterday, the person we are today and the person we want to be tomorrow.
Change presents conflict...we tend to resort back to the "yesterday person." Once we
understand what it is that we fear, we can accept change and conquer our fears. This theory
can be applied to meeting someone new, dealing with someone who may upset us or entering
a competitive event. Going to the doctor's office...there is an unkown of what the doctor may
tell us...fear of what we might hear. Fear of the unkown stops us COLD in our tracks. Depression
follows. Look within yourself to find the strength to overcome your fears. Reality...it is what
it is. Stress is "self induced." We must be at the "controls" of our lives.

YOUR CHALLENGE FOR TODAY!!!
Hello and welcome everyone! Happy Labor Day weekend...make it safe. Most of us are experiencing some great weather...now is the time to get out and enjoy it. How about taking a
"nature walk?" Today I want to challenge all my readers. This is the challenge...you are told that
today is the last day of your life...what would you do? How would you react to your last day of
life? Some guidlines for you...no complaining about anything, no negative thoughts, not a bad
word about anyone, give a hug to someone, perform ONE good deed and forgive someone who
has hurt you. You will feel the energy like never before. You will live this day like no other day.
Living life to the fullest. Wonder what would happen if all of us would live every day to the
fullest? That's my challenge to all of you!

JIMMYO INSTALLS "PORTABLE GYM" IN CHURCH
Hello and welcome everyone! WOW...last week I mentioned that I was invited to speak about
my Senior fitness program at the Sunday church service! It was a great experience for me and
15 people signed up! I will be back again this Sunday to install the program. Perhaps I should be
visiting more churches...I think I will. I started the "portable gym" a year ago for the purpose
of going to the client and making it convenient for people to get involved with a fitness program.
I now have booked 11 classes per week via the "portable gym" series...an exercise ball, a
resistance band and a folding chair. I expect about 250 participants in the 11 classes. Three
are in wheel chairs and two use walkers. Physically challenged people are always welcomed.
There are exercises for everyone. This has been a great learning experience for me. Classes
begin on Monday, August 31st. I will keep you informed week to week regarding the progress.

CHURCH INVITES JIMMYO FITNESS CLASS!!!
Hello and welcome everyone! Sometimes I have so many thoughts on my mind, I don't know
where to begin. Let's give it a go. Sunday, tomorrow I will be speaking in a church! Yes, you
heard right. The pastor requested that I speak about my "Balance Your Life" class. I am honored to say the least. Whether one is religious or not, I believe there is a spiritual element
within all of us. So, my message will have a "balance" between the physical and the spiritual.
Will let you know how it went next week. A fitness class in church?! Could be a new trend.
TIMELINE...thoughts on the "line of efficiency." The line between EXPECTATION and RESULTS is the line of efficiency. The closer to the expectation line, the better. Where we
start and how we improve over time requires a "timeline." Chart your progress. Remember,
in my world of fitness there is a starting point, but NEVER an end. Fitness must be ongoing.
That's why no one ever graduates from any of my classes. Never an ending. Why would you
stop your healthy lifestyle. Where is your "line of efficiency" today?

"MUSCLE CONFUSION!!!" BEST RESULTS
Hello and welcome everyone! The question that I hear quite often is, " what are the ingredients
and what goes into a training (workout) program? I think people want to know "how can I best
get results?" Let's try and disect those questions. Fitness should not be viewed in the short term, but rather a life long process. From my viewpoint, PREPARATION is the foundation.
The recipe is as follows. Start with your health consultant and a nutritionist. Most people do
not start this way, but I recommend it...your body is the only body you have...unless you know
something I don't know. Your fitness program must be a daily practice. With those things in
mind, start with a notebook. Write down what you want to do each day for the first week.
Change your routine (a little) each day. You may be doing the same exercises each day, but in
a different order. I refer to this as "muscle confusion." Keep the exercises simple, fun and on
target with your goals. Remember PREPARATION includes both the physical and mental. You
will notice positive results by the end of your first week. What kind of results? More energy,
reduced stress, feeling better about yourself and your attitude and outlook on life is more
positive. Your self confidence will surprise you! Look in the mirror and SMILE at the NEW
you. Each workout should begin and end with you looking in the mirror. Fitness and healthy
eating go together.

SENIOR STARTING OVER!!!
Hello and welcome everyone! For me 2009 will go down as the year of "unfinished business."
On Saturday, track and field for the Senior Games was cancelled due to heavy rains. Bummer.
When I heard the news I was left with an empty feeling. Coming back from an injury, rehab and
training and then cancel is not the way I wanted to end the year. So, now what. Back to work.
Start at the beginning, start over and more determined than ever. I am taking this week off and
then I will begin my journey. I have been invited to compete against college athletes starting in
November for the indoor track season. FATE IS WHAT LIFE GIVES YOU...DESTINY IS WHAT
YOU DO WITH IT. On September 8, I again begin conducting my "Balance Your Life" classes.
Thus far I have booked 11 classes per week. Expecting about 250 participants. Should be a fun
year and am looking forward working with the returning and new enrollees. Just think, 250 age
50 and over "youngsters." The oldest being age 93! In addition, I have several requests for
speaking engagements on health and fitness. You may see my blogs appear in "corporate
periodicals" regarding health and fitness.

"WANT AN ENERGIZER?!!!"
Hello and welcome everyone! I ended last week's blog with, "next week, something I want to
share with you." When I reached my early 50s, I began to see things in a different light...myself,
life and the purpose of one's life. Take myself less serious, make my friendships have a purpose
and have an positive impact on people. I wish I would of had this revelation much earlier in my
life. However, I am very fortunate to have gained this knowledge when I did. I have a greater
outlook not only on my life on others as well. It's like putting a puzzle together...all the pieces
fit now. Life makes more sense to me. That is a great feeling! So, what does all of this have to do
with fitness? Everything! Seeing myself and everything else in a "better light" motivates me to
understand just how important a healthy lifestyle is and to live it with a PASSION. A healthy
lifestyle is not more difficult to attain, it becomes easier. Attitude, passion and a vision creates
the environment for one to grow into...it is a "becoming." More than anything those ingredients
have helped me get through hard times and overcome the obstacle course of life. Oh! One other
thing...you will have more energy than ever before. Being positive, sure beats being negative!
