GUARANTED!

Hello and welcome everyone! Well, it's that time of year again. Cabin fever and winter blaaaahs.
So now what. This time of year...people get tired of everyone including themselves. When you
say to someone "have a nice day," they look at you and snarl. Oh boy! You will find the answer
to all of this within yourself. It's a challenge, I know, but be yourself...your BEST self. Others will
feel better and think, "I want to be just like that." Meaning you. The mental aspect of your being
is critical in any situation. Examine where you are in life and where you want to be and how you
are going to get there. You will feel better about yourself, your place and what you are about.
GUARANTED! I will close with this...put this same attitude into your fitness/workout program.

crossroads!!!

Hello and welcome everyone! When something BAD happens, people fall into two groups...group
A, "now I have an excuse." Group B, now I have a reason. Excuse equals weakness. Reason equals "against all odds, I will do it." Why is it, some people do not want a challenge. Where as
others accept and embrace a challenge. So what's the difference in the two groups...it's the
MINDSET. When we face something out of our "norm," it must be hard to do. Yet people will say
"I like new things." "I want to change." No they don't! Only if they themselves bring about change. When they get around "tuit." MENTAL habits and patterns are hard to change..until
we stop babying our mental conditioning. TO CHANGE, YOU HAVE TO CHANGE. It does not
matter what state in life you are in, blue collar, pro or otherwise...you and I must challenge
ourselves...raise the bar. If we think of ourselves as being greater, we will grow into that
greatness. Don't stop, don't look down...LOOK UP.

IT'S TIME!

Hello and welcome everyone! When I hear people complaining about training, fitness and working out, it "grinds" me the wrong way. My thought is...visit the physically/mentally challanged. See what it means to have a disability. No one should take their health for granted.
Perhaps we should be thankfull for having a healthy body...perhaps. We should develope an
attitude that being able to workout and wanting to workout is a blessing. We should develope
a "role model" attitude for others to follow. How about it folks? The leadership role is yours just
for the asking. Reach out to others and lead them to a richer, healthy life style.

KEEP GOING

Hello and welcome everyone! KEEP GOING...WE ARE ALMOST THERE! Those words are
prompted by instructors in various fitness classes. After awhile we become numb to those
commands. Instructors need to address "participant boredom" while teaching. Classes need
to be entertaining as well as informative. When I talk to other trainers about this, I hear "well
we run out if things to say and do." Nonsence...that statement tells me trainers do not prepare
for the class. When the instructor and or trainer become mechanical, so does the student.
When fitness/training become routine, the participants find another class or another way.
As a trainer/instructor I need to make that class the highlight of the day for everyone and that
includes me.

OH, oh!

Hello and welcome everyone! Ah, yes...New year's resolutions! Many are
made, few are kept. Hope we all live up too ours. OK, as promised...the
OH oh in fitness/ workout programs. Counting one to ten or whatever
number we pick, is perhaps necessary in what we do. Counting becomes
automatic and we tend to become mechanical in our routine. That's the
problem. We create barriers. We are our own worst enemy. We train
because we want to run longer, faster and build endurance. We start and stop at a certain number and perform the same exercises for the same
amount of time every day. So we train the brain to STOP at a certain time. And we wonder why we are not getting better...it's because we plan it that way. Vary the count, vary the time, vary the number of sets and
vary the routine. Every day must be different...it's called CHANGE UP!
By doing this simple thing, you will get the results you want. Training
every day requires you to take one day off. Let your body "heal." Oh,
you will start seeing the results in one week. Next week..."keep going."

BARRIER BUSTER

Hello and welcome everyone! Let me update you on the past 4 weeks re my training program.
I am well into deep water aerobics and TRX. My toughest....deep water aerobics. My instructor
asked me how I liked her class...I responded, "I don't." "It' like having to take cod liver oil when
I was growing up." My mother would say, "it's good for you." That's how I view water aerobics.
It's good for me.
That MENTAL BLOCK...this morning I finally broke it. Five times I took the one step and did the vertical jump of 43 inches. It's more than conquering my fears...it's conquering myself. Just
doing that was my greatest victory this past month. Getting ready for the Senior Olympics of
2011, I am starting to blend in the foot work, the ladder and low hurdles. Will start sprints of 30 and 40 meters on Feb. 1st. I love the way my training is going and the cross training. So my advice to
all of you...become a BARRIER BUSTER! You will rid yourself of alot of stress.
