Tribute to Women

Hello and welcome everyone...followers of my writings in Social Media and blogging are fully aware of my Hero Tribute to men, women and children who have achieved a measure of greatness against all odds. October is dedicated to the fight against Breast Cancer...women who have faced or lived with breast cancer. I admire your courage in facing and overcoming the mental and physical suffering...for so many in silence, alone. As a prostate cancer survivor, I fully understand and feel the word HOPE. Remission and survivor for many are temporary words. In my weekly talks to cancer patients, survivors and caregivers, I hear the word terminal all too often. You have experienced life defining, life changing moments. Understand women...your courage, your cause,
has motivated others beyond your circle, that you may never know. So today, extend your arms, embrace your beauty...give someone a hug. Have a meaningful life everyone...Jimmy O

OUCH!

Hello and welcome everyone...well, last Sunday I was still competing in track and field and pickleball at the Meijer State
Games. On 6/21 I was going through my final tune up, coming
out of the blocks and pulled my left groin. Did this two years ago, coming out of the blocks in the Senior Olympics. So, on
Sat. before the events, I went to our on site physical therapist and received some stretching exercises that helped. I wrapped
my left leg. I was able to win the 50M and 200M. The pain was
getting worse, so I withdrew from the 100M, LJ and HJ. Injury
is the competitor's number one enemy. I am analysing my entire training program...warmup, stretching, conditioning and
cool down. 2013 will be a big year for me. My training starts
today. Have a great 4th of July...play it safe.

Have a meaningfull life everyone. Jimmy O

"FIRST to the FINISH LINE" for survivors

Hello and welcome everyone! The date...Friday, June 12, 2009. I had the honor of speaking to
cancer survivors and care givers. An estimated crowd of 2,000 attended. This was a very
emotional and humbling experience for me. This marked the second time I have spoken publicly
regarding my fight against cancer. The energy from the crowd was awsome...I could feel it!
No one was "giving in" to cancer or "giving up the fight." COURAGE and HOPE are the two
words that come to mind in describing the face of the people in attendance. This experience will
live within me for the rest of my life.
I am more motivated than ever to compete in the 2009 Senior Olympics. The "face" of the
crowd will be etched in my mind for every event. I am so thankful that I have the health to
compete. My mission...make the most of it. Be at my best throughout..."First to the FINISH LINE" burns in my every fiber. The challenge that lies ahead for me is minuscule compared to
the challenge facing some of those in attendance on Friday. My challenge is not a burden...
it is a "calling." A calling that I accept. Whatever measure of success I achieve is a gift to those
that cannot.

Have a great and meaningful life everyone! Jimmy O
