next STEP

Hello everyone...the question all of us are confronted with, "what is
my max and how do I reach it." Sports psychology is now mainstream. Mental coaches are next step in conditioning. We fear
what we don't understand. Study, learn and practice mental conditioning. As you elevate your performance and pull away from
the others...it is lonely at the top. You will stand alone. The higher
you go, the more alone you will be. That doesn't apply just to sports, but also to business. Leaders survive and thrive in that "alone world." You become your best friend. You trust your best
friend. Create and welcome change. You will soon realize a higher
level of self confidence...you can feel it.

Whose Body?

Hello and welcome everyone...most of us at one point in time have
second guessed or had the thought, what am I missing...what should I be looking for. More and more info has been streaming our
way re the mental side of sports, training and workouts. Now, when
designing fitness programs, I devote/emphasize 40% of clinic/class time to the psych required. Self confidence is critical as we scale
upward in raising the bar. Sports psychologists are no longer an
oddity, but necessity. Raising the bar...requires us to really get to know our body. Psychophsics...the psychological study of the relationship between stimuli and sensory response. Reference...Dr.
Patrick J. Cohn, Reach Your Peak. Mental mistakes...dwelling on
errors is the #1 mistake for athletes. Don't dwell on mistakes. Refocus and use mistakes as building blocks. Takes only about three seconds to refocus. Realize that there are in fact no positive or
negative experiences other than what we define as such. Our perception of an experience has the ultimate power as to how we feel when it's happening. Most of us do not realize the power we have. We have to recalibrate.

# 10

Hello and welcome everyone...how I prepare for each year's training will be spelled out in the following text. Hope this will help you as much as 100's of others. My weekly schedule is written
out with the words "climb Mt. Everest." I have been doing that for over 50 years. "We can age, but we don't have to get old. We live as though we will never die. We die as though we have never lived.
We rush to grow up and then long to be kids again." The # one
mistake men and women make...No Mental Training. Pre training
and pre game mistakes. 1) strict expectations. 2) lack of self confidence. 3) getting distractions, putting an act, show off. 4) park
your troubles, separate your life from the sport/competing. 5) over
thinking. Don't cram before competing. 6) worry/fear. 7) poor planning. 8) psyching yourself out before competing. 9) worry about what others think. 10) allowing fear of failing to be the motivating factor. Finally...facing the truth. Profile/define yourself.
Energy/action plan. Energy, productivity, performance. Next week,
prep conclusion and workout schedule.
