NO DRESS REHEARSAL!

Hello and welcome everyone! This week (7/14) will be the Senior Olympics for me. This being
the qualifying year for the Nationals, this is a huge meet for me. Now comes the "question time."
Did I do this, that and whatever else was on my list. No second guessing...no dress rehearsal. This
is it. Monday thru thursday will be light workouts, long warmups and sprinting at 65% of
capacity in the 100M, 200M and 400M. Practice LJ and HJ. Stay out of the sun, get plenty of
rest and sleep. I have my routine down and need to stick to it. Oh...plenty of water. I compete
friday and Saturday. Look forward to it. Will bring you up to date next week.

SEASONAL BLUES!

Hello and welcome everyone! Change of seasons (4, for those counting) brings about "seasonal
blues." Cain't explain it, just is. The reason I mention it? Change of any nature will test your
mental toughness...your focus. Change brings about internal conflict and challenge. Being able
handle adversity separates you from the "rest of the field." The source of one's strength comes from
within. Attaining and maintaining mental toughness is a daily exercise. Success doesn't come at
us like a water fall...but one drop at a time. The road to success will always be under construction. Winner's find a way...a reason to "stay the course." A question asked by all of us
at one time or another...am I getting better? In most cases the answer is yes. Perhaps you don't
see it, but you feel it. It's like trying to see ourselves grow. We can't, but we do grow, we do get
better. We arrive at our destination because we planned it...because we wanted it. We didn't
allow "change" to get in our way.
