RIO OLYMPICS

Welcome everyone...prior to the start of the Olympics, I stated that the winners would share a common trait. Mental Toughness. That was the prevailing trait. In swimming, le Close was shadow boxing right in front of Phelps, trying intimidate Michael...to no avail. Phelps beat le Close by over a second and went on to win another gold medal. All the winners, both the women's and men's events, the mental games prevailed. The athletes spend hours in mental training...it paid off.  Next week, Avoiding injuries.

FIVE for FIVE

Hello and welcome everyone....re last week's track and field meet. I was told it was 101 degrees on the track. Really did not need to
know that. For some reason the heat just swallowed everyone. Six
and one half hours in the heat. I came away with five gold medals.
Survivors and winners had mental toughness. It would have been easy to walk away...quit. No one that I know of walked away. You
"rise above." You can't eleminate adverse conditions, you have to
rise above. Took me three days to recover. Now I am back at it, getting ready for my next meet in five weeks. See you next week.

NEVER EVER!

Hello and welcome everyone! I'm taking this opportunity to pay tribute
to some very special people. Each year since 2004 I began competing for
those who cannot...cancer survivors, care takers, the physically and
mentally challenged. My sponsors are a great support team for my cause.
So, to all of you having to deal with cancer or any other health issue, face
it square on...never, ever give in. I hear "healthy people" say things like
"I'm tired," "I don't feel like working out," or "the weather is bad." Talk
to someone who has terminal cancer...and look at yourself in the mirror.
Now what do you say? For me, it is not just competing for the gold, it's
about life and hope for my special people. One other thing...I'm a
prostate cancer survivor...March, 2004. I thought my life was over. I try
to motivate my "special group of people," they don't realize how much
they motivate me. A big shout out to all of you and thank you. Value life.
