FULL BODY

Welcome everyone...resistance training is one of the best full body workouts one can do. Here it is...1) 2x4 wrapped in a piece of carpet (so it slides on grass or floor). Push it 10 yds. 5 sets. Starting off, try 5 yds. 2) sled...push and or pull. 10 yds. 5 sets. 3) chute...as you gain speed chute opens. 40 yds. 5 sets. 4) Tires...car, truck, tractor. Wear pull strap chest high. 10-20 yds. 5 sets. 5) bungee cords...one end waist high...and or legs and arms. Most of these drill makes you bend your body with a slight bend forward. All of these drills can be done indoors or out. Jimmy O www.secondwindfitnessfilm.com

Endurance/Stamina

Hello and welcome everyone...this week we discuss the elusive
endurance/stamina. No matter the sport/event...we compete, we want to "last." Warning...let's not get sloppy. Stick with proper
technique. Here we go. 1) sprint forward and backward for 10m each way. Five sets, three to each set. Hold a 3 pound weight in each hand. 2) hold a 10/15 pound weight, squat, touching weight
to ground, spring up and hold weight high above your head. Five
sets with 10 to each set. 3) 2x4 about 3 feet long. Warp cloth around 2x4, place 2x4 on floor in front of you, place hands on 2x4,
now push as fast as you can for 10m...five sets. 4) jump rope for
30/60 sec. Five sets. 5) Jumping in place, hands at your waist, jump
hitting knees  to your hands...30 times...five sets. 6) uphill sprinting. 30m with about a 10 foot elevation...sprint forward and
backward. Five sets. Weight in each hand optional. Make sure you
are landing on the balls of your feet. Select 2/3 drills every other day. Have a meaningful life everyone...Jimmy O

Turbo

Hello and welcome everyone...received positive reviews for blogs
Torque and Pop, thank you. Most of you know that I work with and
follow men and women with physical or mental challenges. Julie
Fast, Appalachian Trail. Look up on Bing or google. This blog will
conclude my toughest training drills. Push a 2x4 10m. Bend down
with hands on 2x4 and push as fast as you can. Five sets. I use 8
hurdles, 15 inches in ht. and about 2 feet apart, in a row. Face one
way, jump and spin in air and face the other way as I go over each
hurdle. Jump over hurdles with one foot at a time. Last, jumping
side ways over each hurdle. Five sets each drill. Next drill, jumping
up bringing knees waist high touching knees to hands. Jumping 30
times in 15 seconds. Using ankle weights, one pound each and sprint up steps. I use steps at a place near a lake. There are 84 steps.
Five sets. I have designed 43 different training drills. Mix and match as you wish.

NINJA 3

Hello and welcome everyone...start off by stretching for 30 minutes. Now sprint 50m five X with 20 second rest between each
sprint. Next, hanging by your feet, body fully stretched out, come
up and touch your toes 10 times and hold for 10 seconds, Five sets.
Next, push a 2x4 20m. Five sets. 2x4 should have a towel around it
so it does not scratch floor. Next, jump rope for 30 seconds with a 30 sec. rest between each set. Five sets, and increase to 10 sets by
week three. Next, sprint 50m. Three X. Next sprint up hill or up
stairs and when reaching the top sprint for at least five meters. Hill
should be at least 20m and stairs should be at least 25 steps. Next,
20 slow pushups...slow, very slow. Finish with stretching for 30
minutes. I drink at least 20 oz of water and 8 oz of coconut water
each work out. Next week...Ninja bonus.

SPEED

Hello and welcome everyone...as promised, "transition." I am two
weeks away from my first big track and field meet of this year. Let's go back in time...to the prep and conditioning drills. The 2X4
push drill from one end of the gym to the other. Sprinting, pulling
the sled with 40 lbs of weight for up to 30M. Squat, jump and extend hands above my head lifting 12 lbs. All 5 sets. Now,
transition those drills to my T@F events...50M, 100M, 200M, HJ
and LJ. My final prep for the next 10 days consists of a 90 minute
workout...high impact. This is not for the weak of heart. After a
30 min. warmup...I do the following. Five 40M speed burst. Then
3, 200M sprints at 80 % capacity. Then three 100M at 80% capacity. Then three 50M sprints at 90% capacity. Then a 30 min.
cool down. You can apply these drills to any sport. I want my training to be tougher than the actual competition. I will be ready
to win and break all existing records. Stay tuned!

2X4

Hello and welcome everyone..."what are my limits?" "What are your limits?" That thought has haunted me for several years. So, I
designed several high impact drills that would answer that question
for me.
1) using a 2x4, 2' to 3' in length wraped in outdoor carpet and stapled to the 2x4. On a basketball court or any indoor facility,
place hands on the board and push about 30 feet and then back. Do
5 sets with a rest of one minute between sets.
2) using 8 hurdles, 18 inches high and place on the floor about two
feet apart. Jumping over hurdles with two feet at a time. Repeat
with one foot at a time. Now, standing and facing one way, jump
and spin in the air so you are facing the opposite direction. Do at
least 3 sets.
3) Using kettlebell 12-15 lbs., squat and jump straight up lifting the
weight above your head. Repeat 10 times and do 5 sets.
4) Plyometric drills are a vital part of my training.
More drills next week. Thanks to all of you for your comments
and questions.
