Welcome everyone and let's get started. Most of us want to reduce that aging process...the exception...a certain % of my readers (teens) want to get older...faster. Advertising and product, "on reversing the aging process" is a multi Billion yearly business. Yet, we keep going back to EXERCISE as the one sure source of age reversal. Your mental attitude is the igniter. Physical and mental exercise are your resources. As we age people count the things they can't do year by year. That is not living...that's trying to survive until that comes to an end. Functional mobility is critical. Talk to people who are now physically challenged. Don't fall into the 'class' of "I used to run, then I used to walk, then, I used to be able to sit up and then, I used to be able to breath on my own and then..." Write down your functional living exercise map and then follow it. Add v. subtract. Get behind the wheel of your life and live it. I can't promise you that you will add years to your life, but I can promise you will add LIFE to your years. Jimmy O

Little Things Mean Alot
Welcome everyone...too often we look for a "Niagra Falls" for the big bang success to achieve greatness. Those who think that, may as well play the lotto. Relax and simplify your life and your reach for max fitness and competitive goals. Be consistent...begin with your sleep habits, avg. age, 8 hours. During sleep, your muscles need to re coop. Restless sleep produces tired muscles...and that's before you start your drills. Eat healthy meals, Don't over eat, under eat. Stop eating w/in 90 min. before retiring. Drink at least 4, 8 oz.
glasses of water a day, plus any other juice liquids. I am sold on coconut water...and ALL liquids should be ICE cold...not warm. Cold works better and faster. When working out I drink coconut water and ice coffee. Always finish your planned workouts...never quit/cut short. Produces mental toughness. I have learned muscle cramps, strained hams, quads, hips, back are mainly caused by lack of proper stretching and lack of fluids. All of the above was arrived at by 17 years and 721 interviews of pros and amateurs. All at one time or another were in rehab. It's the little things...winners and survivors know. Endurance/Stamina
Hello and welcome everyone...this week we discuss the elusive
endurance/stamina. No matter the sport/event...we compete, we want to "last." Warning...let's not get sloppy. Stick with proper
technique. Here we go. 1) sprint forward and backward for 10m each way. Five sets, three to each set. Hold a 3 pound weight in each hand. 2) hold a 10/15 pound weight, squat, touching weight
to ground, spring up and hold weight high above your head. Five
sets with 10 to each set. 3) 2x4 about 3 feet long. Warp cloth around 2x4, place 2x4 on floor in front of you, place hands on 2x4,
now push as fast as you can for 10m...five sets. 4) jump rope for
30/60 sec. Five sets. 5) Jumping in place, hands at your waist, jump
hitting knees to your hands...30 times...five sets. 6) uphill sprinting. 30m with about a 10 foot elevation...sprint forward and
backward. Five sets. Weight in each hand optional. Make sure you
are landing on the balls of your feet. Select 2/3 drills every other day. Have a meaningful life everyone...Jimmy O

BLUR
Welcome everyone...one of the words to define "blur" Webster uses
the term, "to lessen." That is what happens in our hurry up world. We try to play catch up in our every day lives. We race through our
training/workouts. This blur happens to most of us at some point.
We become discouraged and end up doing nothing. Take a deep
breath, slow down and get back to basics...our foundation, starting
point. The starting point always begins within each of us. When we
lose something...search from within. This is critical to reach the top.

The BURST!!!
Hello and welcome everyone...this is the 4th in a series of eight blogs. Today we concentrate on the "burst." No matter what sport or competitive event, whether team or individual, you need the "burst." The burst is different than having a "kick." In my "Webster," the kick applies to running long distance, biking, or
skating/skiing, swimming...all long distance, over 400m. The burst
applies to sprints, T&F, racquet sports, X Games, endurance and
body building (weight lifting). My apologies if I missed your sport.
For the past one dozen years, I have used the word "NOW: as my
mental igniter. When I say the word NOW aloud, that triggers GO.
90% of my sprint drills demand the NOW command. My brain,
my body responds to that command. Example...200m, load and explode out of the blocks. That's the first "burst." All out for the
first 20m and then I pull back to 90% capacity for 80m. With
100m to go, my next NOW, with 40m to go, my next NOW, and
with 10m my final NOW. All bursts of additional speed. Arms,
legs are fluid...reaching. Remember...the faster you move your arms, the faster your legs will move...count on it! My training, drills...from 30m to 400m, including uphill sprinting...I practice
"BURSTS." Even in the high jump and long jump. The word NOW
has been the catalyst for all of my gold medals. Never underestimate the power of your mind.
