Hello and welcome everyone! Water is critical...essential on a daily basis; especially in hot, humid
weather. Research tells us that you can lose up to 30% of your muscle power in hot, humid
weather. Drinking water before your warmup will give you an edge. My assumption here is
that you are already drinking 6 to 8 glasses of water a day. During my warmup and workout
of 90 minutes, I will consume two plus quarts of ice cold water. The colder, the better. The
consumption of water helps to prevent pulled muscles...especially hamstrings. Stretching before,
during and after your workout is just as important. Most people tend to stretch less in hot and
humid weather. Do more frequent stretching and vary your stretches. I add a small amount
of real lemon juice to my water. Drinking eight ounces of water during the first hour after your
workout is a must.

Hello and welcome everyone! Ever hear the words "listen to your body." You know your body
better than anyone else. Today's society is in a "rush" to get somewhere with a lack of direction.
As long as we are moving, we feel we are accomplishing something. We tend to be impulsive.
Think of all the diet pills and other supplements we consume. That's a multi billion dollar a year
business. Trying to make our body into a "machine" is the danger zone of life. Via supplements
we mask, disguise what our body is telling us. We have pain...we take a pain pill. We still don't
know what the problem is. The RX bottle, the pill and the supplement blocks the brain signal.
Finally, the "machine" we have created, breaks down. So what happens...we decide that whatever we were taking isn't working and we buy some different "stuff." And the cycle keeps
going. You are driving through the mountains and you see a sign that reads "watch out for
falling rock." Do your really think that by getting out of your car and taking the sign down, the
rock will stop falling. If you value your body, then value what you put into your body. We all want to look good...feeling good is more important. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!

Hello and welcome everyone! If it's's blogger time. Ready? Let's go! Throughout my
sports life I have had a history of pulling my left hamstring and last year also pulled my left
groin. My left hamstring is a little tender right now; so I am toning down my training for this next week. Longer warmup and cool down. Less plyo and iso...more foot work for quickness.
Cutting back on strength conditioning in the weight room. Will sprint barefoot on grass, speed
drills via speed bursts. Will continue with two hours of tennis on Mon. and Wed. nights and
pickleball on Tues. and Thur. afternoons. This is in addition to my two hour morning workouts.
When you read this you might be thinking, "well, you are not cutting back." Yes I am cutting back on the high impact drills and "bunker hill." Sprinting uphill, forward and backward. I will
also concentrate more on proper breathing. Training, working out and competing and conducting fitness classes is my life. By the way, by Labor Day, I will have designed a new
fitness program. This past week I shared an outline of the program with a university and a
local hospital. The program was greeted with WOW! More on this in August.
