Welcome everyone...there is an estimated well over 100,000 various exercises/drills. More than enough and yet we create more variations of basic drills. Performing functional balance drills is the starting is the necessary starter. Start with small discs (stepping discs) , placing 2 lines 2/3 feet apart and not across from each other. Step forward 1 foot at a time. Stepping distance should be varied one to three feet. Forces you to hop to reach some. Always landing on the balls of your feet...not flat footed. 5 sets. Now take an air filled (sponge like) round object that you can place 2 feet on. Place it about 3/5 feet from a wall and start by throwing a soccer or
tennis ball against the wall. 2 min. Same drill with a medicine ball or some heavy ball. 1 min. Those 3 drills will give your foot/leg balance and its a mind booster. More next writing. Jimmy O

DNA
Hello and welcome everyone...one of the most frequent requests
that I get is "what makes up a winner in training, sports and competing?" So, after years of research here is what I have found to
be the DNA of a winner. Grinder, patience, goal oriented, mental
toughness, passion, ability to assess, accept your way of life, ethics,
accept that every day is a Mt Everest, attentive to details, establish
and recognize your skill set and vision. The thoughts of winning
are always in your mind. Several years ago I read an interview that
a sports writer was conducting with Mary Decker Tab, the great
International 1500m runner. Question to Mary was "what do you
think about before and during the race?" Mary's response, "I think
about all the things that can happen during my race. Weeks before
the race, I am consumed by the vision myself winning...as already
being there. I fall asleep seeing myself winning." So there you have
it. My book this week Law of Attraction."

Healing Power
Hello and welcome everyone...once or twice each year I need to get
off the highway and take a side road or a back road. The drive allows me to think and get in touch with my inner self. For me it's
therapy...a healing power. During this drive I think back to my childhood, my life...reality. Yesterday, I was on one of my backroads and thought about the main pieces of one's life. We drive
or are driven by Time, Distance, Numbers, Connections and a Greater Power. Connections are much more than social friends. Connections in this context are people you can rely on to
provide you with true answers for your success. We need to minimize our mistakes. We have little Time for "do overs." As we
age, Distance and Numbers become more important. I call these
pieces the CORE 5. I live by it...it works.

DEADLINE
Hello and welcome everyone...I believe that time and distance are
how we measure most things in life, more than anything else. We
are or should be "glued" to Deadlines. Tax time is one that haunts
most of us. For quite some time now I have been in awe of news
media being "on time." Newspaper, radio, TV and internet must
meet deadlines day after day. You and I have deadlines to meet at
various times of the year. Most of these deadlines come at us, some
with no warning. How about the deadlines you design? How about it.? Deadlines have a purpose...time and distance are paramount.
Having a purpose as to why we are doing something is critical
in reaching and achieving something worthwhile. For me, the next
7 days are the "countdown" days for my next huge track meet. I
entered (as always) 5 events. 50m, 100m, 200m, LJ and HJ. I want
to set records in all 5. I compete on June 22nd. So, I will blog on
next Thur. Stay tuned.

FEVER/MAP
Hello and welcome everyone...the responce to recent blogs has been absolutely great. I received expressions of concern, boredom
and confusion in being on the right track when training/working out. "How can I tell when I'm getting better/improving?" As a society, we are obsessed with the "miracle pill" and the words
instant and now. We need to understand our "starting point." Every
one's starting point is different. On a scale of 0 to 10, with 10 being
the highest..."where am I?" Most things in life are measured by
TIME and DISTANCE. Three other words to live by...fever,
patience and organize. Most people rush into weight loss, getting in
shape, becoming stronger, faster and so on. We over do it. Rehab
is no fun. Organized thoughts, written down is critical in getting
anywhere. You wouldn't travel or start a business without a map.
You need a map when getting your body in shape. How long did it
take for a person to reach being overweight? Time and distance
comes into play. Fever...this is key. It is difficult to know when our
temp is starting to rise...until we begin to feel it. The same principle
is in play when training/working out. You begin to feel "temp"
rise. You feel the" progress fever." One other word we need to
incorporate into our lives...FUN. We can all sense/feel when we
are having fun.
