STATS FEAR
Welcome everyone...after publishing "fusion" I received numerous comments and I then interviewed several men and women re their recording of workouts. shock! When they "confessed" their feelings, it became clear they did not want to be "pinned down" re their results. FEAR! Fear of seeing where they are vs. where they want to be based on written recording of results. Fear is causing a loss of self confidence. Now the mental game is in full force. They began to shorten workouts, find excuses, taking on the "slacker" tag. Now, they are well prepared with excuses in the next event. Your workout, training, attitude will carry over to the way you will preform against competition. You are prepared to lose...not WIN. The same applies to competing against your self. Boredom?
Welcome everyone...I oft times written and spoken about how sports and the business world are parallel, interconnects on several fronts. Competition is one common thread. Most of the obstacles are self imposed...of our own doing. Boredom, stress, indecision, impatience, lack of purpose, lack of focus, fear, worry. We need to deal with and rid ourselves of the negative...if not these will destroy you, will eat you up. Let's take boredom...Carl Rogers, a renowned educator, professor, stated this "I always thought of myself as a good teacher...but the day I became a great teacher, was the day I became an excited learner." Boredom affects every facet of our lives. And it spreads and is contagious. Put excitement back in your workouts and daily routine. Change. I have to change "I have to work out, to I want to work out." Begin each day with a five/ten meditation." Put subliminal to work when falling asleep. It's powerful.

1st to the FINISH LINE...
Welcome everyone...the IMPACT that you make is in direct proportion to your own self image. The who am I, what am I all about. "How do we reach and define that inner me?" Start by removing the self imposed obstacles. 1) Worry 2) Change...no you don't like change. 3) Indecision 4) Adversity 5) Fear...Robert Frost, "the people I am most afraid of are the people who are scared." The road to success will always be under construction. I...image, self image. M...maturity. P...purpose in life. A...attitude. C...courage. T...touch, the human touch, When you change the way you look at things, you change the way things look, the things you look at change. First to the Finish Line...where Winners and Survivors Always Meet.

You are Who?
Welcome every one...write out a script, definitive, as to how you want to train and compete. Your script needs to be specific, not general or vague terms. Follow the script to a "T." In my clinics and seminars, the first question I ask each participant, "define/ describe yourself." Every participant is stumped...cannot do it. That tells me that if you are "in the dark" in knowing yourself, you have doubt, fear, stress and lack self confidence. You are living with someone your whole life and don't know this person. What a shame. Back to the script...get on track with your training and yourself. Funny how that works...accept failure and it will find you. Accept success and you will find it. Next week, Pound the Rock, Ultimate Challenge! Warning...only for the strong, not the weak.

Getting there
Hello and welcome everyone...the impact that you make in life is in direct proportion to your own self image. Getting the very best from how you see yourself. First, we have to remove the self imposed roadblocks...worry, negative attitude, indecision, fear, change and lack of mental prep. When you have a vision, a passion of where you want to be, you begin to ace and behave as though you were already there. It's more than setting a goal. Goals are great, but remember, unless you are willing to keep changing and updating the goals...they become your "ceiling." Ceilings stunt growth. Move the ceilings with passion and vision. No excuses.

Obstacles to Winning
Hello everyone...my hero of the week, Jake Olson. Age 18, long
snapper for USC football. Jake is legally blind. His creed..."nothing
can stop me." It's hard to beat a person who never gives up. When
you think about quitting, think about why you started. There is no
expiration date on your dreams and goals...veggies have an expiration date. Obstacles to winning...YOU. Self imposed. Worry,
change/conflict, indecision, indifference, fear, manipulation, lack of
maturity and focus and mindset. Have received dozens of requests
to list my drills and exercises...that's next week. Will you outlive your brain? One in three women will live to age 100. One in four men will live to age 100. Peak performance of the brain...in your 40's. We need brain workouts. Close with humor...I'm going to retire and live off my savings. Not sure what I'll do the second week. When I was a child I thought "nap time" was a punishment...
now, as a grown up, it just feels like a small vacation.

Top 4 Fears
Hello and welcome everyone...response to last week's blog has been overwhelming...thank you. This week, smorgasbord. Take what you like and the rest leave for someone else. Results of research...Top Four Fears in Sports: 1) fear of embarrassment 2) fear of letting others down. 3) fear of hard work not paying off. 4) fear of not playing up to potential. Top three brain boosters, asparagus, yams and blackberry. Test I put to 25 men and women...
Only think positive thoughts of one day, the way we look at things and the way we feel. No one passed. Negative thinking produces
negative results. Saps your energy. We live in a "cosmetic," cover up society. Trying to cover up the way we look...ie, wrinkle cream.
We don't like the way we look...which explains our self image. To change, we have to change our thinking. When you change the way
you look at things, you change the way things look...the things you look at change.

The Unknown
Hello and welcome everyone...2014 is closing fast and it's time to
design our fitness/training program for 2015. I will outline mine next week. Bits and pieces...best read and movie, Stephen Hawking. Best relaxation...Reflexology. Health warning...STRESS.
Stress related issues...common cold, inflammation, weight gain, slower healing, sleep dysfunction, heart disease, ulcers, back, neck
and shoulder pain. Loss of energy. Physical activity actually
recognizes the brain, teaching it stress resistance. Adaptation to
circumstances is a great strength. How we adapt to change is key
to being as much as we can be. Knowing your inner self and the
mental side is critical for attaining our goals. Fear of the unknown
prevents us find the real person...who am I and what am I all about.

MYSTERY
Welcome everyone...yes, after seven years of designing and facilitating fitness classes, clinics and athletic camps I am making
a change. Over this time period I have conducted over 3500 classes
and clinics. I will continue to blog and deliver motivational speeches, finish writing my book and producing videos on fitness.
Let's get started...most of us search for the truth in life, in sports and training/fitness. I am convinced we are limited because we cling to our limitations. We cling to our past ways of doing things. We rely on muscle memory to get it done. We practice/train muscles instead of "brain training." The endless mystery of "how to
get better." There will always be someone who "gets it." The brain
has to be in gear before the muscles can perform to our liking. Get
out of your comfort zone. Habit vs rut.

FEAR FACTOR
Hello and welcome everyone...delighted by your questions and
comments regarding previous blogs. A viewpoint/perspective...
there are 1000's of ways, exercises, techniques and yes, supplements one can grasp, to gain an edge...to win. Along the way,
what happens to our plan. We face challenges, obstacles we don't
like or understand. Some find themselves in that "vision of victory."
Most can't handle "that moment." Most people can live with
failure easier than success. People freeze at "that moment." This
mental state of mind begins in our training. We either drive our
workouts or the drills drive us. Everyone faces life defining, life
changing moments. Are you ready?! Or will you be afraid..again?
Winner's seize the moment. Winner's and survivor's are not afraid
of failure. They embrace "that moment." We need to overcome
ourselves...overcome our fears. Are you prepared to ascend the
podium, to take "center stage." First to the Finish Line," where
winners and survivors always meet.

THINK
Hello and welcome everyone...success in life, in anything, will be a
moving target if we are unable to conquer our fear...conquer ourselves. We don't do things that we don't think we can do or that
are hard for us to do. We become "slackers." Let's apply this to our
workouts/training. Visualize yourself starting and finishing your
workout before you actually workout...not just once, but several
times each day. You want mental toughness, do that exercise. At
times, I even become angry with myself before and during my
workouts. Reaching my goals is a must for me. I do not believe in
status quo. We either progress or regress. Once a month, at least,
do things in your workout that you don't like to do. Exercises you
know will help you, but make you feel uncomfortable. Get out of
your comfort zone. THINK through your workout before the
workout. You win when you conquer yourself...your fear.

OUCH!
Hello and welcome everyone...well, last Sunday I was still competing in track and field and pickleball at the Meijer State
Games. On 6/21 I was going through my final tune up, coming
out of the blocks and pulled my left groin. Did this two years ago, coming out of the blocks in the Senior Olympics. So, on
Sat. before the events, I went to our on site physical therapist and received some stretching exercises that helped. I wrapped
my left leg. I was able to win the 50M and 200M. The pain was
getting worse, so I withdrew from the 100M, LJ and HJ. Injury
is the competitor's number one enemy. I am analysing my entire training program...warmup, stretching, conditioning and
cool down. 2013 will be a big year for me. My training starts
today. Have a great 4th of July...play it safe.
